Eager to grow in grace? Join us Sunday mornings from 9 to 10:15 for Adult Education. During each 13–week quarter, adults at DBC can choose between a variety of options ranging from Bible Book studies to courses in History, Christian Living, Apologetics and Bible Study Medhods. About once every year to 18 months, we join together for a plenary study.

Our Fall 2010 quarter starts Sunday, September 5th. This quarter, we are offering five electives. Please take a moment to read the descriptions below and register online or call the church office at 304-252-0950 if you have any questions.

Choose The Life

For Adult Singles, Sundays at 9 in Room 303. Rick White, Teacher

With Christ as our example, we must take up our cross daily; choosing a life of humility and submission to others. Our journey begins by talking about the brokenness that leads to a new realization of an old truth: That full churches are not necessarily full of disciples and that transformation is what matters.

By introducing issues that will enflame the heart, we seek to identify those who are enthusiastic about the call to the life of discipleship. Books: $20.

Every Man’s Marriage

For Married Men, Sundays at 9 in Room 302. Don Pfleger & Carl Dingus, Teachers

Whether you are newly married or moving toward your 50th and beyond, this class will assist you in understanding your wife as God designed her. You will be challenged to understand and live in oneness with her. You will learn to appreciate her giftedness, weaknesses, and her thoughts while exercising your spiritual leadership with godly passion.

Each man will be expected to be faithful in his attendance, reading assignments, prayer life, and to participate in class discussions. Class is FULL! Book: $5.

In The Dust of the Rabbi

For Mixed Adults, Sundays at 9 in the Heritage Room. J. D. Hughes, Teacher

“Follow a rabbi, drink in his words, and be covered with the dust of his feet,” says the ancient Jewish proverb. Disciples followed so closely that they would literally be covered with the dust kicked up by the feet of their teacher.

Being a modern disciple of Jesus demands an intense commitment to the word and complete devotion to Christian community. For the early church, vital faith was the difference between life & death. Come discover the fierce passion and commitment of our early Christian brothers and sisters to walk like Jesus—even when the path became treacherous. No book fee.

Managing Our Finances

For College-Age Adults, Sundays at 9 in Room 301. Buck Lively, Teacher

Did you know there are over 2,350 verses in the Bible about money, and that nearly half of Jesus’ parables are about possessions?

God’s Word is packed with wise counsel about your financial life. In fact, Jesus had more to say about money than about heaven and hell combined. In this study, we will hear from five renowned experts on the subject of biblical financial management. Workbook optional ($13).

Old Testament Survey

For Ladies, Sundays at 9 in Room 201. Anita Pfleger, Teacher

Systematic, individual study of the Bible is a basic requirement for a thorough biblical understanding. In this overview and book-by-book study of the Old Testament, the student learns by doing—information is given and questions are asked to test her understanding. This course is offered for all women who are seeking an understandable and enjoyable means of personal Bible study. Book $8.
